Kadynce Rose Slay

Meet the precious Kadynce Rose Slay, daughter of Dallas and Kasey and little sister to Kennedy.  I had the privilege of doing this shoot when she was less than 2 weeks old.  She is so precious, and was wonderful for the shoot!

Mommy, Kennedy and Kadynce wanted a picture for Daddy because he is in the Army and will be leaving the country soon.  Blessings and Prayers to your family, and especially you Dallas. May God place a hedge of protective angels around you while you are away from one another.

Friday the 13th will be LUCKY for one Senior girl from the class of 2011 or 2012

OK, girls, this is your lucky day!  I have an opportunity for you to enjoy an incredible experience with an amazing hair and makeup artist -- Lisa Proctor.  Lisa is a wonderful artist, and has worked with celebrities and models, as well as on the pageant circuit of State and National and Universal pageant contestants.  You can see some of her clients here:  Lisa Proctor.
 Here's the dealio...the date is May 13, which I know is a Friday, and it is definitely your LUCKY day!  You need to be able to leave school early or get out by 12:00.  We will be going to some unique and different locations!

I am a huge fan of other photography people types! There are so many wonderfully talented people out in the world who are so gracious, generous and willing to share what they know with those of us who are still learning. One of those blogs isJodi Freidman of  MCP Actions. Jodi is amazing at getting the most out of each and every shot, and she has created shortcuts or actions for Photoshop users to help us duplicate the work she has already done.  In addition, she has amazing other photographers as guest bloggers to teach us even more!  One of my favorite posts is the one on shooting at night.  I have only dabbled in the dark side of photography, and had no clue how to get a good or even great shot at night.  This 2 part series has so many great tips and tricks, I think I might be ready to give it a try.  I'll post some of my trials on here later.

Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow!!

Yep, it came to Texas and shut us down for 4 days. I'm always amazed at snow, I guess because we didn't see that much of it growing up. I was born in Amarillo, which of course gets more than its share of snow, but we moved when I was 4, so my only memories are of stories my mom told.

But I don't generally like the cold. Its just the way I am, so for me to get out in the cold and snow for a photo shoot, well, that was pretty amazing in itself.  I just thought I was being brave, but I had 2 young ladies who volunteered to come and play with me.
   Kiera and Jentrey were so fun and such good sports!  Jentrey even brought her prom dress, and one of her mother's.  So without further ado, here are some of the images from the snow shoot!

I think these girls deserve a special winter olympics gold medal for their bravery!

Nothing is as sweet as a new baby...

Don't get me wrong,,,,I have 4 precious grandchildren. Hannah is 11, Mateo will be 8 in April, Sophia is 3 and now we have our sweet Jackson Keats, born January 13, 2011. I love the quote "a new baby is God's opinion that the world should go on."  Nothing smells or feels like a baby fresh in the world, just a new delivery from Heaven for all of us to remember what a miracle every single life is.  I am so blessed to have my wonderful grandkids in my life, and close enough that I can visit *almost* anytime I like. I got to share some time with Sophia before Jackson was born, and she was very anxious to go meet him.  Just sharing some sweet pics from our first couple of weeks together.

Sophia is such a wonderful big sister, she loves Jackson with such pure sweetness!

I treasure every moment spent with my beautiful grandchildren!  I love them so!

Grandfathers and their Granddaughters

Of all the relationships I miss the most is one with my grandfathers. Both of mine were either gone, or died before I was old enough to have any real memories. My mother's father died when I was about 5, and the only thing I remember about him is that he scared me.  But it has been a joy to watch my kids develop their relationships with their grandfathers, and now to watch Wayne (D-Daddy) with his grandkids.  I caught this special moment the other day when Jackson was born. Sophia ran up to Wayne and gave him the biggest hug, and then this Eskimo kiss....truly precious...hug them now, they grow up so fast!
